Cliff Object Throw

The Cliff Object Throw game audio project contains a 3D sandbox environment where the player can throw around two movable objects. The player can explore sound feedback from impact sounds depending on the surface type. The project highlights object movement, impact, and distance.

Role and scope

Sound design, audio editing and implementation by Matthew Kwan with sound effects primarily sourced from licensed libraries and adapted for implementation through sound selection, trimming, layering, fading, pitch adjustment, level balancing, and processing in Reaper. This project includes sound from one original field recording captured by Matthew Kwan.

Audio was implemented using Wwise and Unreal Engine 5 (Blueprints) including the setup of events, pitch randomization, and distance attenuation for dirt impacts and item-spawn sounds. The project's current scope includes active surface detection where impact playback plays the impacted dirt sound for all land surfaces. Impact audio feedback according to the type of surface is planned for a future iteration of the project.
