The Musical Shooting Range game audio project contains a 3D one-room environment that explores interactive audio feedback from a weapon, target impacts, and a power-up state system in response to the player's actions.
A chain of five successfully hit targets in a row activates the power-up state. If the targets were not hit before the invisible timer ran out or if a miss was recorded during the middle of the chain, this would prevent the power-up state from activating. 3D automation paths are drawn for the ejected bullet casing audio feedback. Animation Notifies in Unreal Engine 5 align reload sounds with the weapon and the player's 3D character animation.
Sound design, audio editing and implementation by Matthew Kwan with sound effects primarily sourced from licensed libraries and adapted for implementation through sound selection, trimming, layering, fading, pitch adjustment, level balancing, and processing in Reaper. This project includes sound from one original field recording captured by Matthew Kwan.
Audio was implemented using Wwise and Unreal Engine 5 (Blueprints) including the setup of events, randomized feedback of ten organ-note variations upon hit target impacts during an active power-up state, 3D automation paths for bullet casing ejection and landing, and reload sequence synchronization using Animation Notifies.
